Staying in this area puts you close to the home of the San Francisco 49ers NFL team, who play at Candlestick Park. The stadium is set in Candlestick Point State Recreation Area, which offers excellent views of San Francisco Bay, the East Bay Hills and San Bruno Mountain. Visitors to this park can also take part in a bit of walking, bird watching, fishing or even windsurfing.
Candlestick Park is also called ‘The Stick’ and can be used for entertainment as well as sporting events. Candlestick Park was the venue of the Beatles’ final concert in 1966. The stadium was originally built to be the home ground for baseball’s San Francisco Giants, and the team used it from 1960 until 2000, when they moved to AT&T Park. Candlestick Park is the only stadium where NFL football is played that had its beginnings as a baseball stadium.
