Fort Miley Hospital, also known as The San Francisco VA Medical Center at Fort Miley, is located in an area between the Golden Gate Bridge and Point Lobos in San Francisco, California. Visitors to the 29-acre campus of Fort Miley Hospital will greatly enjoy the views of the Golden Gate, the Pacific Ocean, the Marin Headlands, and the Richmond District of the city.
The hospital was completed in 1934, and has had patients every day since. It was one of the very first projects of the US government built with earthquake resistance in mind. Fort Miley Hospital was modernized in 1963, and also in 1989. A parking structure was added as well as more rooms for patient beds. Clinics and offices plus a nursing home were also built.
