Lincoln Park Golf Course is situated on land that was once a cemetery called Potter’s Field. In 1902, with the permission of the steward of public parks in San Francisco, Jack Neville and Vincent Whitney constructed a few holes for playing golf. These proved to be very popular with the golf playing public, and are now the first, twelfth, and thirteenth holes. By 1909, the public demanded a larger area in which to golf.
