Hotels near Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco - Best deals & budget rates!

The Palace of Fine Arts is located in San Francisco’s Marina district. This structure has been in existence ever since 1915, as it was built for the Panama-Pacific Exposition, which took place in that year. The Palace of Fine Arts was one of two buildings that were not destroyed after the Exposition was over. During the 1960's, the Palace of Fine Arts was renovated from top to bottom, as it was in a state of disrepair. Concerned citizens wanted to make sure that the structure would continue to stand for years to come.

During the Exposition, the Exhibition Hall in the Palace of Fine Arts was the setting for a group of Impressionist paintings. Today, this area is called the Exploratorium, and it is a stunning interactive science museum. State of the art exhibits include Mind, more than forty exhibits about thinking and feeling, and reflections, interactive exhibits that will allow visitors to see themselves as they never have before.
