Seal Rock is a good-sized, very protuberant rock that can be found down on the end of Ocean Beach in San Francisco, California. It was named after the California sea lions and the Steller’s sea lions that are in the habit of using these rocks as a resting spot. Sea lions are often called seals, so the name is a very apt one. Seal Rock is a very popular tourist attraction, especially from September through June when there are more seals out and about.
Seal Rock is situated at the most western point of the entire peninsula of San Francisco. Tourists can enjoy restaurants that are near enough to Seal Rock to allow them to enjoy the antics of the seals while enjoying a fine dinner. You can find a Giant Camera behind the Cliff House that will allow you to watch the seals at close range. The Cliff House is visible from Seal Rock.
