It is on the Tuolumne River and Turlock Lake, and covers 3,500 acres. There are open waters for boating. Fishermen come here for trout, salmon, bluegill, catfish, bass and crappie. In late summer people come here to pick blackberries. Bird watchers have noted over 115 species here, including woodpeckers, jays, hummingbirds, finches and orioles. Along the Tuolumne River you can still see the mounds of discarded rock left behind by gold hunters. This is a pretty country, well steeped in history.
