The Au Rene Theater is part of the complex that makes up the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. There is something for everyone, whether you prefer theater, dance, ballet or modern music. This performing arts center was a dream come true for Fort Lauderdale and Broward County, and the people here want to share it with visitors. When this theater opened its doors in 1991, it replaced the old Parker Playhouse that had been built in the 1950s. In 2006 it became the first theater in the United States to be named a Point of Culture by the Brazilian Ministry of Culture.
If musicals are your cup of tea, there is the classic Grease, as well as the hit Jersey Boys. For nostalgia, you might like Hippifest. Roni Benise will be here for a concert. For the kids there will be Dora the Explorer and then Sesame Street Live. Of course, the traditional Nutcracker will arrive in time for Christmas.
