Things to do in Columbus can not be complete without mentioning Providence Canyon State Park. This is one major sight of Columbus and a staple of Columbus tourism. Columbus attractions, like Providence Canyon State Park, often cater to the beautiful state of Georgia and the nature of the area.

Providence Canyon State Park is often referred to as the Little Grand Canyon. The up to 150 feet deep gullies caused by erosion form farming are a main attraction. The Azalea and other wildflowers are breathtaking in their beautiful as the dot the canyon soil. There are numerous trails and overnight visitors are welcome. It is a popular spot for backpacking, as well. The park has 1,003 acres of land with numerous campsites and shelter houses. There are 3 miles of hiking trails and 7 miles of backtracking trails. The park features some annual events like astronomy night, fall wildflower day, geology day and a Christmas workshop.
