The site of the Chicago Union Station at 222 S. Canal Street has been occupied by a train station since 1881. The resent station opened in 1925, and is a tribute to the grand old days of train travel and magnificent train stations. It is, in fact, the last remaining building of Chicago’s legendary early twentieth century stations. With its giant Roman columns, glaring statues, bronze torches and marble floors, the five-story-high Great Hall is simply breathtaking.
