Chicago’s LaSalle Street Railway Station is one of four main stations serving commuter lines between downtown and the suburbs. The trains pull in right under the famous Stock Exchange at 414 S. LaSalle Street. At one time the station on this site was the terminal for rail traffic between Chicago and New York City. The present building is the third one to occupy this location. Several movies have been shot here, including Alfred Hitchcock’s “North by Northwest” with Cary Grant, and “The Sting” with Paul Newman and Robert Redford.

In all of its incarnations, the LaSalle Street Railway Station has been a Chicago landmark. From 1902 until 1967 it was the destination of New York Central Railway’s famous 20th Century Limited. It was the embarkation point for the equally renowned Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad. Today it is a central point from which visitors can see Chicago. It is not far from the Harold Washington Library, the Chicago Board of Trade Building and the Willis Tower – formerly the Sears Tower. Guests of discount hotels and budget hotels near the LaSalle Street Railway Station in Chicago have easy access to this iconic Chicago site.
