A different museum experience can be had at the Indian Medical History Museum, which is a great addition to your list of things to do in Indianapolis. This Indianapolis attraction is a tribute to medical history and provides a look into medicine and medical practices of the past. It is one of the sights of Indianapolis that you need to see before leaving the city.
The Indiana Medical History Museum is the oldest pathology laboratory in the United States and was built in 1895. The museum is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In the late 1800's and early 1900's the facilities here were considered state of the art and many researchers worked here to study mental disorders. Today the Indiana Medical History Museum has twelve rooms featuring exhibits that showcase the history of medicine in Indiana. It is located on the former sight of the Central State Hospital.
