If you love your history then you may want to stay in one of the numerous budget hotels near Castle Island in Boston during your stay. This island has 22 acres of space to enjoy, and is a popular recreation area for the public to enjoy. It is located in South Boston and is also the site of Fort Independence, the history of which dates back to 1634. Although it was at one time located offshore, it is now connected to the mainland providing easy access throughout the year.
If you walk around the grounds of the island you will be treated to some fantastic views of the city, so it is well worth planning a morning or afternoon here. It also has another historical reference: Edgar Allen Poe based his story ‘The Cask of Amontillado’ on the island after staying here in 1827.
