This large and beautiful park offers locals and visitors a piece of the country right in the middle of the busy city. In 1885 Frederick Law Olmstead designed Franklin Park as part of the city’s Emerald Necklace, a series of green ways that wind throughout the city and give respite from urban development.
Here you will find nature trails, ponds, a river glen, and many different gardens. Even an arboretum is a part of this wonderful preserve. Outdoor malls are placed along the trails and are perfect for picnics and relaxation. Franklin Park abounds in rural scenery and is a rare green space in the lively city. The park is attached to the world famous Franklin Park Zoo and Franklin Park Golf Course.
