Lincoln is not only the capital of its home state of Nebraska, but it is also the second most populated city in that state and the home of the University of Nebraska among other major sites and attractions. As of 2008, Lincoln was named as the healthiest city in all of the United States. Less than sixty miles southwest of Omaha, Lincoln serves as somewhat of a culture oasis.
Located on the Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, you will find the Alice Abel Arboretum, featuring more than one hundred different species of herbaceous plants, shrubs and trees. Also in the community of Lincoln, you will want to pay a visit to the Hyde Memorial Observatory, which is surrounded by the magnificent Holmes Lake. At the National Museum of Roller Skating, you can gaze in wide wonder at the world’s largest historical roller skate collection, which dates as far back as the early 1800’s. No matter what your interests may be, Lincoln has something for everyone.
