Pros: For a boutique hotel with small rooms, empire felt glamorous and exclusive--even as it was also apparently busy and crowded. the lobby and bar are striking.
Cons: The gym is pretty undernourished. but the $25 charge for a daily use pass at a nearby gym is waaay high. would love to see better options

Pros: Room was well cleaned; we were able to check in early and store our things for a later day pickup. major benefit is location.
Cons: I am still uncertain if we paid for a higher grade room than we were given, although staff assured us that this was not the case.

Pros: Front desk and reservations folks very helpful.
Cons: Shower needs door. maids need to give more than 2 seconds after knocking before opening the room door. everyday should have hand towels and washcloths. some days you get 5 washcloths and no hand towels. somedays it is the reverse

Pros: Good location and facilities
Cons: Confusion over booking payment. my 2 adult children went to book in before me ath they were forced to wait 12 hours until i arrived to be given access to the room because it had not been paid for. i was under the impression that the room had been charged to my credit card when i made the booking. they were told 'pay us $700 or you cant get the room' so they had to seek out an atm and use all their spending money to pay in cash as they don't have any internationally accepted credit cards. this left them without any money the first day - not a good way to start.

Pros: Nice room, didn't think it was as small as stated in other reviews. really comfy beds and quiet too. staff freindly. very close to central park. bar expensive

Pros: Location is great. great looby bar and a pretty happening roof top bar.
Cons: Size of room was extremely small and they gave me a room that was in between to janitor rooms, tucked away in a corner and the view was looking directly at a wall of the building. not even worth what i paid.

Pros: The hotel had a nice ambiance. rooms while small were classy. nice touches included flat screen tv, ipod dock and branded toiletries. bed was very comfortable. free apples at the lobby everyday! close proximity to subway stations, starbucks and 24-hr pharmacy.
Cons: Room offered thru website deal wasn't the best, had very little light shining through. staff was very unfriendly and did not live up to the hotel's ambiance. the phone in my room wasn't working and it took 4 requests before my complaint was attended to.
