The Hotel Pennsylvania is a great hotel well positioned in Midtown Manhattan for those visiting NY. The Penn 5000 room was large and had all conveniences required. The hotel has a charm about it and may need to look at upgrading the rooms over the next few years. The room while comfortable needed a new paint job as walls and doors were scuffed in places. Other than that, l can recommend the Hotel Penn to any traveller.

"Awful - chose not to stay"
Pre booked delux rooms with queen beds located near to each other. On booking in two rooms with single beds were allocated. We returned to reception and requested the correct level and were given rooms 10 floors apart. The corridors and lifts were odorous and felt unsafe. The decor is tired and old and need regrading. We chose to cancel and move on despite the lateness. The reception staff, although reluctant and extremely slow, eventually (after some time) re-imbursing our account so that we could move on. NOT A HAPPY EXPERIENCE AND WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY.

"Big factory..."
We have lost a complete day in fixing our booking problems : we booked one room with 2 double beds, we got 1 double bed in the room. Rooms really old and in very bad conditions, not refreshed. Staff (except one) not ready to give you time. In one word it's a big factory...

"Bad managed hotel"
It is an expensive hotel with no free WIFI access for customers. They had to change our room twice: 1. We were asigned a not clean room in the first instance. 2. Second day they performed a maintenance without inform us previously until we discover the mess. Last room they gave us was for smokers, It stunk smoke a lot. After first day we stay they didnt clean our room, we should ask for cleaning. Windows seems not have been cleaned for years (in both rooms we were). Air conditioned was not working properly.

"Location is worth where it fails in other issues"
rooms are basic, bed mattresses are weak, walls are ridiculously thin, can hear rooms next door when they cough, talk, tv etc. Housekeeping is loud and yell to each other down the halls all day, rooms are old, bathrooms are old but at least clean, check in is always a line, no WIFI in rooms, only in lobby but not free- get with the times! BUT this is a fantastic area. Can travel anywhere in Manhattan/Brooklyn easily, so worth all the above issues.

"The location was great, down town"
Pros: The location was great, down town.
Cons: The breakfast was not so good, also there is no free wifi or cable internet as it says in your website.

Cons: My booking was for 8 nights but stayed for two nights because of very high noise levels and hotel staff were not available at night to take calls so they can intervene. had terrible stay!

Pros: Great location; two good restaurants, stadler grill and lindys; housekeeping staff and their work is excellent
Cons: Some reception staff could do with upskilling in customer relations (but it is new york, i suppose!); be careful with room allocation - despite specific room requests based on previous visits initial room allocation was disgusting - a smelly smoking room on a smoking floor, small room with crappy view - after a major struggle managed to get the room requested originally - certain staff very helpful here, others couldn't be bothered. despite all of this i will certainly be staying at the pennsylvania again.

Pros: The location was very good, the hotel was very busy but that was due to the ny marathon. staff were very helpful and polite.
Cons: The hotel was dated and in need of a serious makeover, but was very clean.
Cons: I did not hang anything in the closet because the inside walls were literally falling apart and i did not want to take a chance on possible asbestos.

Cons: Yes our room was back to back with the lifts and when we complained about the constant noise all night they just didnt want to know about it, i was told to come back after 3pm when they were finished checking in newcomers, when i went back i was told all the rooms were full and nothing could be done, also requested two rooms together as we had teenagers travelling with us and we got same floor but different corridors, rooms were very bacis with damp patches on the ceiling and broken taps on the bathroom, not at all worth $1795,47 per room for 7 nights, very dissappointed with the hotel in general
