"The most disappointing hotel and online service"
The hotel was extremely dirty. Being a 2 star hotel is not an excuse for lack of total cleanliness. But the most horrible experience was when I tried to change the booking with easytobook. Easy to book, yes! But not so easy when you want to make changes. I advise all viewers to do the booking themselves with the hotel directly. It was a nightmare and hours of phone calls.

 "I like this hotel"
I like this hotel. It's my second stay.It was clean, but the carpet and the bath tub has to be changed. The cable TV was terrible, the old TV SET,no HD CHANNELS,you could hardly see peple on TV.THAT was the worst part.

 "Welcome to the seventies"
A real shame... At the rates this place is charging, I do expect a better level of upkeep. Bowed ceilings, peeling wallpaper, splintered woodwork, dank smelling room... I booked a superior double, when I saw what I was given, complained and was given a vaguely better room. Was only on a short stopover so decided to stick rather than twist. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

 "Don't stay in hotel Penn"
Would not recommend this hotel to anyone, receptionists are extremely rude and rooms are dilapidated and in substantial need of updating and repair. Tap in bath fell off in my hand. Leg of sink fell off, sink leaked when used. Window to room didn't shut properly etc

 "NYC Marathon 2012"
We booked this hotel italy one day before leaving for the marathon in New York 'cause the storm that Sandy had rendered unusable booked in advance.Maybe it was our good fortune to have found this hotel in a great position because in front of the subway to Penn Station and Madison Square Garden. We had booked a quad room and it was actually very spacious with a large bathroom and also clean.

 "Would never go back!"
We were looking forward to staying here but were severely dissapointed with the whole visit. The main entrance looks lovely until you get into your room. We had a family room with a 'supposed king sized bed' and queen sized. I think their must have been an inch of a difference in size, their was no tea/coffee making facilities, the bath had horrible stain marks, the room was old and very outdated and it wasn't as though it was cheap! The only thing good about this hotel is it's location as the staff are so rude. They won't answer you but just point where things are. You even have to pay for leaving your luggage if you are there early. AVOID if you can!

needs a renovation - breakfast was small in a very small room, no place to sit - every day, bed and bathroom were clean - location was perfect

 "Worst customer service ever experienced"
My daughter arrived at the hotel after a long flight, and was immediately refused the room which we had booked through Easy to book, as she did not have the debit card that I had used to book the room. She was asked for a credit card, which she does not have, and again informed that she would not be allowed to stay at the hotel without a credit card. After two hours of me attempting to communicate with the hotel manager on the telephone from the UK - my daughter was allowed to use her debit card.I then had to cancel my original booking, and my daughter was charged a higher room rate at the hotel than I had paid on line with Easy-to-book.The staff at Hotel Pennsylvannia are the rudest staff I have ever encountered in any hotel around the world. They continued to be rude and dismissive throughout my daughter's stay. One member of the reception staff was even yawning as she answered my telephone call one morning. The rooms are old, but adequate. Maid service is daily, however, a request had to be made on several occasions for the beds to be made.Even though the hotel is in the most central tourist location, the terrible attitude of the hotel staff unfortunately stays with us, and we will not be returning to this hotel.

 "Great location, but too expensive"
At my arrival in the lobby, I thought it looked like a nice clean hotel. However, the room was not what I expected: the ceiling was peeling off as well as the shower floor, and there was a bit of mold on the bathroom floor. I think I really overpaid my stay; breakfeast was included in the price, but it wasn't even a restaurant: it was a "lounge" with a really small buffet of bagels, croissants, muffins and coffee and orange juice. That's for a 15$ extra... I would stay in this hotel again for the awesome location it has,but I would definitely not pay for the so called breakfeast.

"Helpful staff value for money hotel"
As other reviews have stated the rooms are small but how much time do you want to spend in a hotel room. The staff were friendly and helpful without being intrusive.

 "My opinion about Hotel Pennsylvenia"
- in my opinion the hotel was to big and has a to small reception (where you have to wait in a line??? Even when you have a question, or want to check in?!! never seen that before?- the internet use costs money?!! that service has to be free now a days!!- if you want to put your luggage in storage (for example if you have to check out but don't leave NY) you have to pay money S4 per piece of luggage!!? And when u pick it up the guy who is standing there also begs for a tip!!- there is no shutle bus from hotel to airport, with a cab it wil cost you S60 (again not a big service of the hotel)I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anybody! It was my first and last time! The only positive i could discover was that the bed and tv where good and also the location is perfect, just a few moments away(walking) from Time Square, Bryant Park, Central Park(about 30/45 min), Empire State(around the corner), Macys, 5th Ave etc etc.

"Penn 5000 is worth the money"
After booking my Penn 5000 room got very scared after watching some videos in YouTube, so when I arrived I was expecting nothing but the worse... What a surprise when given room 1102A!!!!! I strongly recommend the hotel, is perfectly located and value for money. Room was very convenient, clean, breakfast included different bagels, croissant, brownies and pastries, juice and a wide variety of coffees teas and hot chocolate, very convenient!!! If back to NY I will certainly book the Penn 5000 too

 "Trip to NY"
The Hotel Pennsylvania is a great hotel well positioned in Midtown Manhattan for those visiting NY. The Penn 5000 room was large and had all conveniences required. The hotel has a charm about it and may need to look at upgrading the rooms over the next few years. The room while comfortable needed a new paint job as walls and doors were scuffed in places. Other than that, l can recommend the Hotel Penn to any traveller.

"Awful - chose not to stay"
Pre booked delux rooms with queen beds located near to each other. On booking in two rooms with single beds were allocated. We returned to reception and requested the correct level and were given rooms 10 floors apart. The corridors and lifts were odorous and felt unsafe. The decor is tired and old and need regrading. We chose to cancel and move on despite the lateness. The reception staff, although reluctant and extremely slow, eventually (after some time) re-imbursing our account so that we could move on. NOT A HAPPY EXPERIENCE AND WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY.

 "Big factory..."
We have lost a complete day in fixing our booking problems : we booked one room with 2 double beds, we got 1 double bed in the room. Rooms really old and in very bad conditions, not refreshed. Staff (except one) not ready to give you time. In one word it's a big factory...

 "Bad managed hotel"
It is an expensive hotel with no free WIFI access for customers. They had to change our room twice: 1. We were asigned a not clean room in the first instance. 2. Second day they performed a maintenance without inform us previously until we discover the mess. Last room they gave us was for smokers, It stunk smoke a lot. After first day we stay they didnt clean our room, we should ask for cleaning. Windows seems not have been cleaned for years (in both rooms we were). Air conditioned was not working properly.

I like this hotel

A larger establishment, Hotel Pennsylvania has quite a number of rooms to choose from. If you are looking for a budget stay, a 2-star room can be found here. The hotel is easily accessible due to its proximity to Penn station . A possible inclusion in your itinerary, Empire State Building is a short distance from this location, as are Bryant Park and Flatiron Building. Make your stay memorable, with a visit to Times Square, Grammercy Park or Radio City Music Hall. During your sojourn in New York, why not enjoy a trip to Victorian Gardens.

An exhibit space is one of the common areas in Hotel Pennsylvania. Guests seeking some pampering will be pleasantly surprised: a beauty salon is available here. If you're the slightly more demanding type of guest, you may be relieved to learn of the inclusion of a dry cleaning/laundry service, a bell boy service and an express check-in/out service in the list of services. A conference space, a business center and an audio-visual equipment set are three of the provisions included to assist you in business matters. Pets are welcome here; 2 per room, to be specific. A total of 1705 rooms are available here.
