Cons: The value of this hotel is almost non-existent for the money. the room was very small, which is ok, but the bed is of poor quality, the cable had no hd, there was no internet access in the room, and even though the hotel touted the use of a digital safe in the room, you had to use a credit card to have access to it. all of this for $765 for two nights. we walked out of the mayfair and went to the hilton garden inn a half a block away that night, and even though we had to pay for one night at the mayfair, we still ended up paying less than we would have staying two nights at the mayfair. the hilton garden inn had a large room, a king size bed, complimentary wireless and wired internet access, hd tv, a refrigerator in the room, and you did not have to pay to use the safe! they also comped our breakfast since it was our anniversary, because they have a restaurant onsite. all for less than the mayfair. if you are thinking of using the mayfair, walk a half a block west to 8th avenue and use the hilton garden inn!
and no, i do not work for them.

"The mayfair is close to all the action at times square but far enough away..."
Pros: The mayfair is close to all the action at times square but far enough away that there is little noise disturbance. staff were courteous, helpful and responsive. access to theaters was easy and convenient. fabulous central location.
Cons: Lack of natural light in bedroom made adjustment to local time difficult. tea and coffee making facilities in the room would have been a welcome addition to a weary traveller.

"The location is fantastic"
Pros: The location is fantastic. although the rooms are incredibly tiny, they had character. the hotel website also shows a room, which wasn't representative of the actual room.
Cons: The air con in the room was like we had a jet engine in with us. it was too hot to not have it on!

"I found the location the best feature"
Pros: I found the location the best feature. just 2 streets away from times square and the theatres are all around. my room was tiny, no view at all but it was super quiet and dark each night so got great sleeps and i paid a tiny price in my opinion for the room. it was soooo convenient to all the shows. i went to 4 over 4 nights and it was such a short stroll back to the hotel.
Cons: No wireless internet in my 4th floor room. it was available in the lobby but really would have liked it in my room.
also, one front desk dude told me the nearest post office was on 38 street when there was one just 3 blocks away on 52nd street and i reckon guests would commonly ask about post offices locations so figured he should know better and i politely let him know when i returned but that's all i can think of - quite minor really in the grand scheme of things.

"Very useful location and the room was equipped with everything required"
Pros: Very useful location and the room was equipped with everything required. the staff were very pleasant and helpful. the only negative was lack of space, a significant drawback for stays beyond a night or so.
Cons: The provision for tea/ coffee, either in the room or in the foyer/ lobby would have been a good touch.
