If you love all things that have to do with nature, at the American Museum of Natural History in New York you are in for a wonderful experience. This institution is one of the best museums of its kind in the world. It is a vast complex of buildings covering four blocks. They are full of taxidermy, fossils, gems, and natural specimens of every description. You can see spectacular IMAX films, look at special exhibits, or take in the show of stars in the Hayden Planetarium. This museum is also one of the oldest of its kind, dating back to 1869.
This institution has 32 million items on display. If you start from the entrance on Central Park West, where there is a statue of Theodore Roosevelt, you will go through the Hall of Asian People and the Hall of African People. Here you will see everything from ceremonial masks to a gilded Tibetan Buddhist Shrine. Move on to the Hall of African Mammals where the exhibits include a family of elephants. Children always enjoy the creepy Reptiles and Amphibians Hall. Continue on through the other display halls which feature everything from the oceans to outer space.
