Yankee Stadium Details
The Yankee Stadium is located in the Bronx and opened on September 18, 1923 for the price of $2.5 million on a 10-acre plot of land. It belongs to the baseball, the New York Yankees, and is home to many championship teams and baseball greats. From 1958 to 1961, the stadium was the only place to watch Major League Baseball in New York City. The 1939, 1960 and 1977 All-Star games were hosted in and by the Yankee Stadium. The stadium has also hosted boxing championships and football games. It is also the place where Pope John Paul VI celebrated mass before 80,000 people. Jehovah's Witnesses have also held many conventions in the stadium, the largest in 1950 that attracted as many as 123,707 in one day. This is the most people the stadium has ever attracted in a single day.
