The Ramsey House Plantation is an 18th Century home on over 100 acres of land and lush gardens. The Ramsey house is known for the Ramsey family, one of the first settlers to the Knoxville area. The home is especially known for the design of the house, including the woodwork and the first of its kind to have a kitchen attached to the main house.
Visitors can take a guided tour of the home and experience the original woodwork and detail. The home itself is filled with many pieces of furniture from the family and from the late 18th to 19th century in which the Ramsey’s lived in the house. Upon further exploration of the grounds, guests can also tour the visitor’s center which holds many other family artifacts and pieces from the time period as well. Picnic areas are available for patrons to enjoy and they are also encouraged to visit the many gardens on the property. The Ramsey House Plantation is home to many natural species of wildlife which roam free on the grounds.
