Buffalo Bayou Park is one of Houston’s most enjoyable parks, located right in the heart of Houston’s theatre district. The park is named for the bayou area that runs from Katy Texas about 35 miles through downtown Houston. Buffalo Bayou Park offers a wonderful green space for picnicking, dog walking, bike riding and taking a walk or jog. You can also rent canoes here or play disc golf. There are beautiful sculptures and a great playground for the children. Many of Houston’s budget hotels are close to Buffalo Bayou Park, so you can easily walk to the park for some exercise. And, if you’re staying in a hotel near the park, you’re also close to Houston’s best restaurants, theatres and nightlife.

Houston holds many events each year in Buffalo Bayou Park, too. When you plan your visit to Houston, be certain to check on what events will be going on at the park during that time. When events, like the July 4th Fireworks or the Summerfest are going on, you’ll need to book your Houston hotel room early if you want to stay near Buffalo Bayou Park.
