Centered around Post Oak Boulevard and Westheimer Road, it acts as the principal business district for the largest city in the Lone Star State. It ranks as the 17th largest business district in the nation, comparable to those in Denver and Los Angeles. Many of the city’s basic public buildings lie in this district, including the public library and the Art Institute of Houston.
The Galleria is one of the largest retail malls in the United States. One can also visit Grady Park located on 1700 Yorktown Street. The METRO operates bus transportation throughout Uptown Houston and by 2012 they hope to have a light rail system in operation. Other points of interests include Williams Tower, Williams Waterwheel, Four Leaf Towers and Saint Martin’s Episcopal Church.
