Cong Vien Van Hoa Park in Ho Chi Minh City was originally constructed by the French colonial government as a recreational area. The park now serves as a wonderful park for the common people of Ho Chi Minh City. Besides the lush green backdrop the park is blessed with, the park also provides visitors with carnival rides, making it a big hit with the youth, both teenagers and children, of Ho Chi Minh City. The main purpose of the park is as something of a sports club with a gym, a weight room, a swimming pool, tennis courts and even table tennis equipment. Ironically, a French Colonial clubhouse in the middle of the park sits in a state of disuse.

A sight you’ll see in Cong Vien Van Hoa Park that you’re not likely to see in most cities is that of regular people taking naps in the shade of the trees. When the park gets a little more active in the afternoon, the communal atmosphere contributes to a feeling of safety and trust which allows for such activities that would be deemed dangerous or foolish most anywhere else.
