Twenty minutes east of Ho Chi Minh City’s District 1 you’ll find Binh Quoi Tourist Village. Binh Quoi is a perfect example of the booming tourism industry in the recently renovated country of Vietnam. Where just a few years ago, Vietnam was a fairly closed off country, accepting very little in the way of tourism, it has recently capitalized on this economic boom and now caters to travelers from around the world.
You’ll know you’ve made it to Binh Quoi as traffic starts to grow thinner and thinner, until finally, all you can see are waterside bars and restaurants, where you can get crab and snails for as low as 4.50 USD. There is also a swimming pool (with a one dollar entry fee) and tennis courts which can be played on for less than two dollars an hour. The sunset over the Saigon river is truly a spectacle to behold.
