Vietnam’s biggest international Airport, Tan Son Nhat is comprised of two terminals, the second one being fairly new and having taken over all international services as recently as September second in 2007. The older terminal is reserved for domestic flights. Immigration is said to be fairly strict here, but with proper identification, there should be no problem. The airport itself is as well equipped as you can expect any airport to be. Restaurants, gift shops and news stands are all here, as well as a telephone kiosk to call for a taxi or rental car, if you don’t want to take a bus into town, that is.
Taking a taxi from the airport into the center of Ho Chi Minh City should take about thirty minutes, but will only cost you three to five American dollars. Of course, there are some taxi drivers who will tell you otherwise. You can either make sure to keep a close eye on the meter, or save yourself some time and buy a six dollar taxi coupon near the terminal exit.
