As gorgeous and rich in meaning and culture as Hanoi is, the city is large, and can be a bit overwhelming at times. If you need to find a nice, quiet respite, a place to get away from the hectic hustle and bustle of daily city life, you need look no further than Thong Nhat Park. Thong Nhat Park contains Bay Mau Lake, the second largest lake in all of Hanoi. Around the lake you’ll find such sites as an orchid garden which is free to visit, and on the eastern shore, you’ll even find a rather large restaurant. The lake itself is packed with various breeds of fish and crawfish, and the park itself includes a 3km jogging track for a quick workout, and a variety of fascinating statues and fountains.

Located one kilometer south of the area of Hanoi called ‘The Old City’, any taxi driver in Hanoi should be able to take you to Thong Nhat Park on name alone.
