Ba Dinh Square, sitting right in the center of the city of Hanoi, is a collection of important buildings and manmade testaments to Vietnamese history. Included are the One-pillar Pagoda, which is a famous piece of Vietnamese cultural history, as well as the Presidential Palace, being the Government’s administrative office, and a monument to the Vietnamese combatants who gave their lives in the line of duty. You will also find the Ho Chi Minh Museum and Residence and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the controversial former Vietnamese President’s final resting place. These last two, in particular, gather flocks of visitors from around the country who come to honor the life and works of President Ho Chi Minh.
There is also Ba Dinh Hall, a building dedicated to the most important events in Vietnamese history, and a popular meeting place. Like so many center squares in so many cities, Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi is a social hub and a testament to the history of its hometown and country.
