Cons: Guides picked by hotel to show us the sites were often pushy about selling things. did not care for that at all

Pros: --room was clean, staff were well managed and cleaned my room daily.

--the hotel has a rooftop restaurant with views over luxor temple and the nile. excellent food and service (a rarity in egypt), listed meal prices (more expensive than on the street, but in return you don't have to worry about the cleanliness of the food, veg, and meat).

--good range of tours on offer, quality of the guides varies though most had undergone training in egyptology.
Cons: --no shower door/curtain in the bathroom -- have noticed this at many hotels in egypt -- often means that the bathroom gets saturated and you have to move things (like toilet paper) to a safe location before showering.

--tour guides will generally wish to include visits to places like papyrus shops, alabaster factories, perfume shops. such places will offer a demonstration of how their products are made before attempting to sell you stuff. the prices on these occasions are usually quite inflated as the guides (according to one who was somewhat open about the matter) receive up to a 50% commission. not a problem if you are buying cheap stuff, but for more expensive gifts it may be better to return on your own or go elsewhere.

Pros: The hotel staff is just excellent. they are very helpfull. the hotel offer excursions in area and this is very helpfull in egypt where the information is poor.
Cons: We got the first night a room with very good bathroom. however we had to change room beceause of the noice and we had to look for a room on the other side. the bathroom was really old en not fuctioning wel. we had to choose between noise or either bad bathroom en we did choose the last one.
