This was the first time we visit New York and it was a great experience. Giraffe is a nice hotel with a friendly staff and a good position. The rooms were very clean but the bed a little to small for 2 persons. When you stays for more than a few days, the wardrobe is also to small for 4 persons. Breakfast was delicious but not so extensive. The free snack and drink in the evening was a nice surprise. Attend this is a positive critique and we certainly recommend this hotel to our friends. This hotel made us feel very welcome in a relaxed way,the rooms they gave us were excellent and with our own little hallway closed off by a door which meant that we could leave our doors open when we were in. Every evening between 5 and 8 there was free wine and cheese and that made coming back to freshen up very easy!! The staff were friendly and helpful although the doorman was nearly always too late to open the door for you!! We will definitely be coming back to this hotel!

Pros: Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. loved the breakfast and wine and cheese which were complimentary.

Pros: Wonderful experience with lots of nice little touches such as the wine and cheese every night at 5pm. staff were extremely helpful and the location was great. easy walks to times square and grand central station.

Pros: Situated in mid-manhatten, convenient to explore new york. to be fair, the price was about what you would expect for this type of boutique hotel in this area. the staff were very friendly, helpful and informative. as a fan of the series 'sex and the city' i was excited to learn the penthouse was in fact 'big's apartment'!! the concierge took us up to show us and did not accept a tip-most unusual in nyc. yhe cpmplimentary wine and cheese in the evening was a nice touch.

Pros: The location suited us perfectly. the staff were very helpful without being in your face. the hotel was exceptionally clean. lovely touches - wine and cheese, breakfast included.

Pros: Good central location, friendly and efficient staff. very relaxing - buffet breakfast was good, and the wine and cheese in early evening was very welcome! huge comfortable rooms - a bonus, i believe, for new york. recommended to all.

Pros: The hotel is immaculately clean. the staff, every single member, are friendly and go out of their way to be helpful. the buffet breakfast is not vast but it is healthy and most enjoyable. we started each of our 6 days with our giraffe hotel breakfast. the supply of fruit all day was plentiful and varied...also another way of helping we tourists stay healthy. the ambience of the lobby at breakfast and when we enjoyed evening drinks and snacks was very relaxing.i especially enjoyed the quiet background piano music each evening. the lobby is tastefully decorated, as was our double room. some hotel rooms in new york have a very tiny floor space but our double room was perfectly comfortable. our room had many tiny special touches which we noticed and appreciated.
as for the position of the hotel.....i cant speak positively enough of its situation within manhatten. i was so relieved not to be in the mad turmoil of timesquare. it was fun to go see what its like up there but so good to come back to relative peace and quiet. there were 2 subway lines very close to the hotel which we used every day. the hotel is close to up town and downtown buses. we were in walking distance to sooo many spectacular and classy restaurants....only a block from 11 madison park...higly rated. we chose to try mesa grill and bocca's both in walking distance and both excellent. i would return to this hotel and recommend it to everyone.
Cons: Sometimes the shower would stop mid shower but as long as u are patient it would return again. we did mention the problem to the front desk.

Pros: They really went above and beyond with amenities/services (happy hour, breakfast, helpful service, slippers, extra pillows, shower cap, etc. and it made a difference!!
