Excelsior Chamonix-Mont-Blanc  

At the entrance, I was certain it would be one horrible and disgusting hotel, yet in the end i loved it. the room was clean and nice, warm and natural - lot of wood, naturally crafted. the furniture respected the tradition of the area and the nature, yet very cleverly designed. the bed was big and very good for sleeping. the bathroom was newly renovated and very good. the cosmetics in the bathroom were great, I wouldn't have expected from a 2 stars hotel. the people working there were very kind and the restaurant was great - good food, nicely decorated. the breakfast was fgood for a french hotel, not the greatest ever, but good.if you go there in the winter, ask for a room with two heating places.

Pros: Thoroughly enjoyed the hotel, staff generally good with information on local area readily available.
Cons: Bar service was very poor. it took an age to be served.

Pros: The hotel is located a couple of kilometers outside of the main town of chamonix. it is perfectly quiet, lovely in its appearance and has wonderful views looking over the town and valley to the mont balnc.
