When I first booked this Hostel/Hotel I did it because of the location. I had never been to NYC and did not want to take a cab into Manhattan while there, I wanted to make sure I was pretty close to everything. I found the Americana Inn and saw that it had a (2) star rating and not very good reviews, but I said the heck with it. It was just my wife and I with no kids and we were just going to use it to sleep because we wanted to be out in town the majority of the time. I told my wife to expect the worst case scenario at this place, but we were going to be close to a lot of things. She agreed and we went on it expecting a hole in the wall place with a mattress and shared bathrooms................................Boy were we surprised, We arrived at 1am and someone was there to let us right in and get us our room, I told my wife to just close her eyes and fall asleep.... when we walked in we did not expect it to be such a clean presentable room. I wasn't the ritz or even the holiday inn, but it was a lot better that the reviews had to say. We were very pleased with our stay there and the staff was great. the rooms are small and its shared bathroom, but its a small price to pay to be in the middle of everything. Never had a problem with bathrooms, they were always available and clean, room was cleaned everyday. I couldn't of expected a better service. I will stay here again to questions asked. I would go as far as to say I would bring my kids there if they had rooms to accommodate us. GREAT JOB AMERICANA and SEE YOU SOON. LOVED IT...... You get a (5) star from me,

"very good located hotel!"
the hotel was very good for our long weekend in manhatten. The location was perfectt in the middle of Manhattan 5-10 minutes to 5th Avenue , Empire State Building, Time Square ect. The room was small but very clean and good enaugh for us. About the noice outside the sleep quality is not very good, but who cares...NY never sleeps :) The Americana Inn is a good choise for sightseeing in New York./Manhattan.

Pros: I found the bed to be comfortable and the room to be clean. i've stayed in a lot of budget hotels in big cities before and the americana has been one of the better ones i've visited.
Cons: The floors have no carpet so that could be a turn off to some people.
