At the square are a major public transportation junction of the Budapest Metro and the 111-year-old New York Café. Other attractions along the Grand Boulevard/Nagykörút include the Budapest Western railway station (Budapest Nyugati pályaudvar), built by Gustave Eiffel’s team in 1877; the Franz Liszt Academy of Music (in Hungarian called the Liszt Ferenc Zeneművészeti Egyetem, or sometimes just the Zeneakadémia, or Music Academy), founded in 1875; and the Museum of Applied Arts (Magyar Iparművészeti Múzeum), housed in a turn-of-the-century Art Nouveau palace.
