 "Some relatively minor points stop this hotel from being excellent"
Overall this is a decent hotel. The staff are pleasant, It has probably last been decorated a couple of years ago, although is still in good nick and has a nice ambiance in public areas. There is newish fitness equipment, for those of us into gyms and what looked like a nice pool for anyone who can swim. there is also a Spa that I didn't get to.I tend to judge hotels mainly on cleanliness and how comfortable the beds are and again the hotel scores well here and has decent bathrooms.I got a good deal on the hotel so overall I was happy and would recommend it and think it was value for money.There were though a couple of things that whilst they didn't spoil my stay would only cost a few quid to fix and would have improved it. These are as follows in no particular order:-1. One of the catches that opened the bathroom window was broken. I opened it with a bit of a struggle.2. There was a ceiling fan in the room. It appeared to have a remote that worked it. the remote did nothing at all. There was another remote that did operate the TV!3. The hotel claims to have free Wi-Fi in rooms. Whilst my computer seemed to pick up a good signal it struggled to get on in my room and when it did I kept getting thrown off and it took up to 10 mins and similar numbers of attempts to get back on again.4. The grip on the shower rail that keeps the shower head higher than you bare wouldn't grip. Fortunately you could take the shower off the rail to be able to use manually.On the whole these things didn't bother me. If I had paid full price for a 4 star hotel I would perhaps have ben less happy.
