Sunotel Aston Barcelona

We had orignally booked the Sunotel Junior but got upgraded to the sister hotel Aston when we arrived (the 2 hotels are joined even though they are on different roads). The check in staff were fine, the room was just like the pictures and was quite nice. The air conditioning worked and was definately needed, the maids came every day to make the beds and clean the bathroom. The beds were a little hard as other comments have said however it didn't affect our sleep at all because we are only in our 20's and have slept in worse places. The breakfast buffet was a real bonus with all the usuals cereal, toast, fruit, crossiants and pastries, yoghurts, juices and some hot food usually scrambled egg. Was a great way to start the day and the serving staff were friendly.Location wise it is located right beside the Hospital Clinic Metro Station, where you can change at Diagonal and then its only 2 stops to Plazza Catalunya which is where las Ramblas is, or around 4/5 stops on the yellow line to the beach at the Olympics Port. Walking wise it takes about 40 minutes to walk to the hotel from Las Ramblas if you fancy a stroll, which is a great way to see restaurants and bars you might not have seen before but can be quite the walk in heat. I recommend getting a 4/5/10 day metro pass depending on how long you are going to Barcelona for as they work on all lines of the metro, buses, trams and FGC. 4 day pass cost around 24 euros and you can go as many places as you like. I would definately stay at this hotel again if I went back to Barcelona.

Pros: Friendly staff, quick check in and out.

Pros: Rooms clean, helpful friendly staff, great location.

Pros: Within walking distance to the hospital clinic subway station. internet access.
Cons: Had problems with the safe in the room and was never repaired. the staff was not always helpful, somewhat of a language problem either in english and/or spanish. no one could tell me make a toll call to the u.s. to report lost credit card.

Pros: The whole experience was great. very easy to find & all the facilities very clean. i'd stay over again if i travel to barcelona

Cons: Disappointed about room rate on friday evenings which we were not warned about.

Cons: We interacted with 3 different concierges. 1 was helpful and relatively friendly but the other 2 were unfriendly and not helpful.
we were cold on the 1st night because of their ac/heating system could not be adjusted. thus we asked for an additional blanket on our 2nd night but the concierge was not able to provide us with one because it was "too late" (slightly past midnight to be more precise).

Pros: Very good location and the room was very clean. also we were lucky enough to be on the top floor and had a fantastic view.
Cons: The shower was absolutely awful to the point where we couldn't use it, we had to run a bath every day as the shower head ran either freezing or scorching hot. the tap water was also undrinkable, it tasted like luke warm salt water so i would advise buying your own large bottle of water to keep in the room for brushing teeth etc. (mini bar water too expensive to use every morning and night). also the woman on reception wasn't rude but wasn't friendly, hardly even looked at us when she was dealing with us, despite our attempts to speak spanish and smile, be friendly etc. however considering the price and fantastic location it was worth putting up with the negative comments i have listed here.
