"Gorgeous hotel gorgeous location"

Such a treasure of a hotel, although a bit pricey I think the attention to detail on everything was worth it. Spot on location too. We had a room with a balcony which I'd recommend. Some of the best sleep I've had too!

A wonderful hotel, great location, and with character. On checking in and when checking my passport the hotel noticed it was birthday and sent a complimentary bottle of Cava to my room! Great surprise and a lovely touch.

"Just outstanding"

Really pleasant and outstanding.The rate was lower than we had expected but no cut in service.Only exception was no bar on the roof which was a bummer when smoking cigars on it. The view is fantastic especially on the sunny days we had.Great location and great service .

Hotel 1898 was everything we could have asked for. From our initial greeting by the bellman at the front doors, to the concierge and friendly service within the hotel...this hotel takes pride in hospitality and ensures complete customer satisfaction. The staff was always working efficiently to keep the hotel immaculate. Our room was identical to the pictures we viewed online. The front desk even upgraded our first evening at the hotel to a suite with a private terrace and outdoor private jacuzzi just for our room! The location of the hotel couldn't have been bettter, located on the very popular tourist street of La Rambla. We were walking distance to everything. We look forward to visiting Barcelona again soon and will definitley visit our new friends at Hotel 1898.

"DEFINITELY CHOOSE THIS HOTEL!"

Hotel 1898 was AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING! The decor throughout the hotel was extremely classy. My fiance and I took pictures of areas to serve inspiration for his office. The rooms felt larger than expected. They had vaulted ceilings with beautiful crown molding. Our room was toward the inner part of the hotel proving to be very quiet, which was nice for sleeping in. The hotel location on La Rambla could make some rooms noisier I bet, but not ours! The beds were comfortable (a tad firm) but I slept like a baby. They even had a pillow menu you could order off of (which I did)! The roof deck (terrace) NEEDS to be raved about! We got to the hotel too eary for check in and proceeded to the terrace for some R&R and received just that. The terrace has unbelievable views of Barcelona. Their pool was decent sized with a refreshing temperature for October. They have tables and lounging beds everywhere. Relaxing music hypnotized us every day we were up there. You could find a spot in the sun or shade. The drinks and food were unbelievable! I would say probably the best food we had in Barcelona! Same goes for their Sangria! This roof top was so enjoyable, we found it difficult to leave! Now to talk about the spa: amazing! They have a big turkish bath/pool with cool jet streamed lounges within it. A great steam room and sauna! We had a great time chatting with other hotel guests as we sweated out the previous night on the town! The massage prices were a little steep so we passed on those services; but it was very tempting! The location of this hotel was absolutely ideal to explore with. We were able to walk to the beach and up and down La Rambla's side streets with ease. Hotel 1898's staff was incredibly pleasant to deal with! They were all extremely nice, attentive and helpful. I even had a work emergency which lead me to the business center. I had a young gentlemen help me read the spanish directions so that I could print, scan and e-mail some documents back to the states. All very appreciated under my time constraint! When I return to Barcelona, I will without a doubt, stay at Hotel 1898 again!

Pros: This hotel is ideally located for a city break allowing the visitor to experience the best of barcelona which is just steps away. ii also has a great rooftop bar and pool. the staff from cleaners, porters up to management are all fantastic.
Cons: Small spa, no roof top jacuzzi. only one lift goes to the roof and can be difficult to catch as it can not be called independently. to be picky a light in the room did not work and was not picked up on by staff.

Gorgeous hotel gorgeous location
