Pearl Hotel London    

I booked this hotel as the website portrayed a beautiful, clean hotel that had been recently refurbished, and I dont think the website could have been anymore wrong! Firstly, as soon as we walked into the room it was like walking into a sauna. We originally thought that it was just because the heating was on and that the window was closed. However, the heating was off and the window would only open slightly so had no effect whatsoever. We then realised that we were given the room with the big boiler tank in the cupboard!! which was providing the sauna-like experience in the room. Because we were literally only sleeping in the room and we were off out most of the day we thought we would put up with it. This was probably the worst decision we ever made!! We should have probably realised that when we had a huge standing fan provided in our room that this has been a previous issue for other guests. As we pulled the duvet back a second issue arose... STAINS!! The white covers were not so white underneath and contained yellow stain patches!! Again, we stupidly put up with this as the room was so hot that a duvet was definately not needed. 4am struck and we got awoken by the big fridge that was in our room as it decided to make a howling-like sound resulting in me having to unplug the thing in the end!! After finally getting back to sleep at 6:30am, we got woken up again at 7am by the lovely huge boiler that occupied the cupboard rather than our clothes due to the room being so small that a clothes cupboard or any sort of clothes hanging furniture was not provided. As soon as someone turned the tap on from another room it seemed to start the boiler off howling and grunting!! This was the last straw and as soon as we had a shower (In the gorgeous ensuite must I add which did not look like it should have belonged in the same hotel!!) I went to complain and they moved us to another room. This room was bigger and the bed sheets looked cleaner but I must admit I did not feel comfortable walking bare foot on the carpet as it looked pretty grubby!! Yes, this is not a 5* hotel and I didn’t expect it to be but what ever star the hotel is, the guest should be able to sleep at night and not be woken up due to the hotels issues. The guest should also not feel dirty when walking on the carpet!! I am not a fussy person usually and have stayed in many youth hostels on my travels that have been much cleaner and airy than this hotel!! Think we can safely say that we shall not be visiting this hotel again…
