The hotel needs up dating and although the Benjamin is a good steakhouse be careful to make sure that you are aware if the tip has been included as the waiter will not tell you and you could tip twice.I would also give breakfast a miss as there are many cheaper options close by.

"near grand central terminal"

this hotel is really central, in a few minutes all the big buildings that are worth seeing are achieved!time square in 10 minutesbreakfast options around are more than enough.Unfortunately, our room was to the back and we could not open the windows because of the air conditioning on the roof with us and the smell from the kitchen.We were out all day and are tired in the evening fell into bed, but it was okay.

"Dylan Hotel"

We were disappointed with our room it was very dark very little external light but then that's probably new York hotels anyway. Furnishings were drab and the whole hotel could do with a face lift. Location though was excellent and made up for the other disappointing factors. The hotel was good value for money considering its situation. Didn't rate it as a 4 star hotel. Staff were very friendly.

"no airco. no light in junior suite"

we stayed in a junior suite on the 4th floor. A wall till halfway of the window and and building very closeby made that there was no light in the room. We moved after 3 night to a (smalller) room on the 16th floor. Fine. In the mean time the temperature in NYC was very hihg, it was very hot in the hotel and since there was only central airco. This is not turned on because it was to early in the season.We could cancel the rest of our stay and moved to another hotel. The staff was very friendly.

Pros: Staff generally pleasant, attached restaurant although expensive was good quality, area around the hotel generally clean as was hotel itself.
Cons: Prior to booking the hotel i telephoned them from australia and asked about the location for restaurants and eateries, i was told there were plenty open all hours and of various price points, this i did not find to be true. there was only expensive restaurants open after 7pm. when booking the hotel i asked for a room with a view - the room i was allocated had a window but 6 feet off the floor therefore i was unable to look out of the window. hotel room temperature was too hot and uncomfortable for sleep. i also asked after the first night for a room with a window i could look out of but was told the hotel was booked until after new year and no move was possible - i again asked a night duty reception man about window and room temperature but given no one made any attempt to address these issues with me i found sleep difficult throughout the duration of my stay.
