"Cheated of a view but not told"
We have stayed in this hotel before and found it to be very comfortable so when we arrived we paid for an upgrade to a room overlooking the canal which we had done previiously. However, despite taking our money and giving us the room looking over the canal we were not told there was scaffolding and nets over the windows so we could not asctually see very much at all and there were men walking along the scaffolding all the time during the day. had we been told this we would not have pauid the extra for a canal view which we didnt get!

"Very comfortable hotel near centre of Amsterdam"
I and my future husband wanted to live in clean comfort hotel near city centre. This hotel was the such. 10-15 minutes on foot to to the main sights and clubs. We didn't use by bas or tram. There is one small window in the room therefore it is always dark. But were in the room for nights only and it was ok!

 "Can't wait to get back"
I am organising a cycle tour of The Netherlands, finishing in Amsterdam for 12 men this Summer and my three day stay with my wife was part Valentine treat, part reconnaisance for the bike ride. I visited lots of hotels in different parts of the city, checking out suitability for bikes and value. I soon realised that the hotel that we were staying at was the ideal choice for the cycle tour. The rooms were large, the bed was comfortable and the location ideal, just a short walk from everywhere but away from the mayhem of the Centrum and the Red Light District. So close to Rembrandt Square and the flower market and all the bars and restaurants you could need. The staff were excellent, including pleasant and effecient reception staff, a very cheerful barman and a multi- ligual concierge who was extremely helpful. I have already raved about the hotel to my friends and have booked for our bike ride in the summer.

 "BAD SERVICE,,,,,,,,"
staff would not provide a drink (except water from the tap or a redbull from a machine) from 2am till 8am. i have stayed with you on multiple occasions since 2006 but the service by the night staff was the worst i have had anywhere over ten years. i will NOT be staying at your hotel again and will advise others not to use the eden hotel.

 "Excellent hotel."
disadvantage was not enough staff at reception and always needed to wait a long time for service.Even at checkout which was urgent because I needed to catch a flight I waited 25 minutes for someone to do checkout.

 "perfect"
The check in was quick and efficient and the staff were friendly. The room was a decent size and clean. The location was perfect as it was only a max of 15 mins away from any major tourist attraction. I would definitely recommend and stay here again.

"Wonderful hotel, staff and location in Amsterdam!"
The location couldn't have been better! All interactions I had with staff members were helpful and friendly. My room was very comfortable and clean. Having free wifi in public areas was excellent. I highly recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

"Good location average hotel - at best!"
Hotel is located a short distance from Rembrandt Square where there are great transport links to other parts of the city and Centraal Station.Arrived at the hotel in the early evening and reception experience was decidedly average. The staff behind desk seemed more interested in completing their conversation than checking-in.Was given keycard for room and told where the elevator was. When I opened the door of the room was hit by a really unclean smell and took a closer look at the in-room facilities. Bathroom seemed to be clean enough but on investigation the bedroom had dust on the bedside table, the walls had all kinds of dubious stain marks together with dings in the plasterwork. The sheets had cigarette burns on them and the pillow cases were badly worn and full of holes! Lights in front of the wardrobes did not work.At this point I decided that there was no way the room was acceptable even for one night and called reception to ask to be moved.A very helpful lady came up to the room and agreed that it was definitely not up to standard and immediately offered a new room. Went to the next room which was much bigger and clean. We inspected this room and the only defect was a dodgy reading light which only operated intermittently. She asked if I wanted to see another room but I said that I was happy to accept this room as everything else was fine with it and was only for 1 night.Did not try the food as the breakfast seemed very over priced. There are plenty places to eat near Rembrandt Square so there is no need to eat on-site unless you wish to. There are no tea & coffee facilities or mini-bar in room, however there are vending machines in the entrance foyer.I would probably stay here again mainly for the convenient location but would inspect the room before accepting it.

"A stay at the Eden Hampshire"
A colleague and I stayed at this hotel while attending a library and archive conference which was held at the main library near Central Station. The hotel was extremely convenient being near two major tram lines. The front desk service was excellent and always friendly. My bathroom (room 516) was a bit small but very clean and I managed very well. The bed was very confortable. We didn't take breakfast in the hotel as we thought 23 euros was a bit too costly for our budgets. We did manage to have a cup of coffee there on two occasions but not without some difficulty. The people in charge were not too pleased with that arrangement. However, we were charged just 2.50 each day for the coffee. We enjoyed using the free internet to keep up with our emails. This hotel was recommended to me by a friend who had stayed there previously and I am glad we chose it. I would do so again.

 "Will Not Be Back"
Reception service poor / disinterested. Hotel decor tired and worn throughout. Room basically adequate but with disgustingly stained carpet. Bathroom well appointed but with poor quality towels.Breakfast reasonable except guests had to queue / wait as food stock was constantly replenished. Staff worked hard; just not enough of them.Price of stay was probably double the value.

 "Dingy"
Very expensive for what it is. It's nowhere near as stylish as it looks on the website, and most of the rooms look over a very ugly and dark internal courtyard making them feel very dingy.

 "Mostly very good"
Excellent location, an easy walk from everywhere really. Good room, although due to the location views were obviously limited and we didn't get one. Pretty clean, but we felt that there wasn't too much effort to clean when you were staying, small things such as not changing the cups and not moving things in the bathroom to clean, should have been better. Some reviews say there is no kettle, but there was, which was good, a small fridge would have been even better. More shelving in the bathroom would have been good and the shower was cramped and pretty poor when there was a lot of space for better in our bathroom. We did not have breakfast which was expensive and there are good breakfasts to be had in Remblanstplein at the back of the hotel at a fraction of the price. All in all a nice hotel with a good comfortable bed in a good location. Quite expensive but no more than many hotels in Amsterdam

"Overall a nice place to stay"
Have stayed at the Eden twice over the past year and will almost certainly book there again when I return to Amsterdam in August. The location is ideal, right in the centre of the canal belt and by the side of the Amstel river, the Rembrandtplein, Vondelpark and the red light district are all nearby, the canal bus stop is just across the river and tickets can be bought at the hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful and the room was clean and comfortable if small and rather pricey. Not a great view from the window either but then all of this is not unusual for most Amsterdam hotels. But overall was a nice place to stay and I would definitely recommend the Hampshire Eden to anyone planning to visit this wonderful city.

 "excellent weekend"
Good location in between the city centre and the museums. Buy travel cards and use the trams/metro/bus. Minor downside no tea/coffee making facilities in the hotel but I would like to stay there again.

 "Eden Hotel Amsterdam"
I was at hotel for 4 days. Hotel Eden was very good value for money and extremely close to centre of city. Staff were very helpful. The rooms were very clean but quite small. Really there is nothing to complain about.

 "Weekend fun!"
Lovely hotel right in the middle of Amsterdam. Great square behind the hotel with cafes, clubs, bars etc that is very handy. Hotel very good value for money. Bit noisy with traffic, but that is a small price to pay for a really good quality hotel in the middle of Amsterdam.
