 "NYC"
Location of Chelsea Star was fantastic! Our room was cleaned daily and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Chelsea Star is definitely part hostel and part hotel, which was fine for us but maybe not for others.

 "Great location"
This hotel is not a 4 stars, but the key benefit is its location, its right next to Madison Square Garden, Penn Station... so you'll find a subway station real close! The main issue we've had is that there is no elevator and when you checkin with 3 suitcase and have to get them up to the third floor it gets a bit hard. Otherwise, its a nice cosy hotel and the personel was really nice. I doubt you'll get a better hotel for this price in the chelsea area, so i would recommend it.

I've stayed in Chelsea star hotel for my vacation. One week of staying here is so wonderful. The hotel staff was really nice. Room was well clean. Location was the best impressive point. If one wanna visit NY, i would definitly suggest this hotel.

I've stayed here on my trip to New York and i must say: it was excellent! The guy behind the reception is very helpfull, the rooms are (small, but hey, it's Nee York) very clean and cosy. Even the shared bathroom is very clean!And the location is super! You're in the middle of New York!!!

 "Chelsea Star Hotel"
it looks like a little hole in the wall joint, but it was actually exactly what I needed for myself. Location was awesome. I shared a room with 3 other girls which I never seen until bed time, and they were gone before I woke, so I sorta felt like I had my own room. Only negatives were the service, the guy at the front desked had my reservation wrong two times and when I got back to the room and they thought i was supposed to check out which was wrong they had all my clean clothes all over the floor. Than when I was sleep one night the front desk guy was under the impression I had a man with me in my bunk. I don't know why I was not bringing man back at all. So he came into my room around 3 in the morning flashing a light all on my face .. Not good!!

 "A very good value hotel, clean and safe"
Stayed here while working at a convention at the Javits Center. The hotel is a great budget alternative to the larger hotels and chains, and it does its job well. It's very small and no frills (no elevator, room service, etc), but my room was clean and reasonably sized (for NYC at least), the front desk staff were really nice and helpful, the A/C worked well and helped drown out the street noise, and the private bathroom was great. It's got a young, funky vibe to it that I enjoyed (even at a ripe old 42!) It's a 20-minute walk to Javits, there's plenty of garage parking right nearby (and decent free street parking, my car was just fine in one spot for two days) and you'll be steps from Madison Square Garden, with plenty of good, less-expensive restaurants and sub shops around. Stay and enjoy!

Pros: The hotel is not a cookie cutter version- there is a certain character to it.
Cons: Several problems. first- when i booked i requested a room for 2 adults. in most hotels, this is 2 separate beds. not there- they tried to tell me that the website clearly showed the room, but i must admit, i didn't even check, since two separate beds is such common practice. since i was traveling with my business partner, i had to pay for an upgraded room. however, even at $200 night- the ac didn't work well, one unit was broken, and the second unit had a broken switch. overall, having had to pay over $230 with tax for one night- i don't think this hotel represented good value.

Pros: The guy at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. the room was clean and was a good size. the hotel was close to 34th street shopping and right next to penn station. i would recommend it for anyone, especially young people.
