 "Carriage Inn provides value but not the best neighborhood"
The quality of the hotel was fine and service was good, good value for the price. They have given the hotel a retro Hollywood theme to make it more interesting but I wouldn't choose this hotel for that reason. The drawback of this hotel is that the neighborhood is not attractive and one has to walk past the shady Tenderloin district to be able to reach the main downtown (3-4th Street) from this hotel (7th Street). That said, I don't think that an experienced downtown urban person would feel that this was an unsafe area, just not ideal for late night walking.
