Hotel Astoria San Francisco  

Pros: The location was tremendous, right next to the china town pagoda, hotel itself was just okay..good coffee in the breakfast room along with bagels, hard boiled eggs, a good start for the day..
Cons: Quite noisy, caused by the nearness to the street..firetrucks,car horns,etc..

Pros: Good location for price
Cons: Tiny rooms, horrible bed, noisy

Pros: Great value for money. clean room. sheets and towels smelled amazingly good!
Cons: Elevator was a bit dodgy.

Cons: Language problem - staff could be little more courteous but could be a cultural/language issue

Pros: I was very pleased with my stay at the astoria. conveniently located, very reasonably priced and clean. i myself don't need much more. others may, i don't. i would recommend it to anyone and then it's up to them to decide if they like it. i recommended the astoria to someone i ran into at fisherman's wharf and he did end up staying there. also, the continental breakfast was more than adequate and they did have a little lounge on the second flooor that had wi-fi access. all in all, a very pleasant experience and if i return to the city i'd have no problem staying at the astoria again.
Cons: It's pretty noisy but it may be like that anywhere in the city. between the street sweepers, garbage collectors, and general traffic, there really isn't anywhere for the noise to go with the tall buildings blocking the noise. not the hotel's fault, just making a point.

Cons: Our room was right off of the stairs and we could hear people going up and down the stairs all night. a room at the end of the hallway probably would have been better although there was also a lot of outside noise that could be heard as well. t

Pros: Great location and value. simple, but clean rooms and friendly staff.

Pros: Staff did a good job at everything. it is not quite old-fashioned enough to be considered kitchy and not quite pretty enough to be considered quaint, but for the price it was better than expected. the view was excellent and the location was perfect.
Cons: No ice machine. the elevator was exciting to use (in a bad way). parking is an extra $26 per 24 hours as of 10/16/2009 - actually not a bad price, but it still costs extra and might kill the deal compared to other hotels that have their own parking lot.

Pros: The cleaning lady was very nice and accommodating, so was one of the front desk man, giving us directions
Cons: Because of the hotel being located on 2 busy streets, it was noisy with traffic, bus, and people noise at night

Pros: I like the location and the price is very reasonable. the staff checked me in early (noon-ish) since the room was ready. i appreciated that.
Cons: It is an older hotel but it has everything i was looking for.

Cons: Bruyant, petite chambre peu accueillante.

Pros: Cozy hotel 2 blocks from union square. huge room and very clean. not your modern hotel but definitely comfortable and worth the cheap price for staying in s.f. the staff were very friendly, polite and efficient. would stay there again.
Cons: The only thing about the hotel was (which the hotel itself couldn't help) was the rude younger crowd yelling and being loud at 2 am. of course there was no ac but most lower end hotels don't in s.f.
