Hotel Ramenas City Centre Amsterdam    

Me, my partner and 4 of our friends stayed in Ramenas apartments for 4 days over the weekend. My and my partner's appartment (4a on the top floor) was lovely, huge, bright, with beautiful view overlooking back gardens and lovely architecture. It was about 5 min walk from the hotel. Plenty of shops, take aways, cafes, bars and big super market just up the road. Room was very outdated but clean and had everything we needed. Read other reviews and people were complaining about the smell from the drain in the wet room. Smell was there but once you closed the bathroom door it stayed there, besides there was a bottle of bleach available which killed the smell for few hours. Kitchen had everything you need. Decently sized fridge, two hot rings for cooking, kettle, coffee machine (which we didn't use really), few plates, cups, glasses, pots and cutlery which we found very very handy as this was meant to be a budget holiday plus we like our ulster fry for luch. Beds were comfy and clean (5 of them!). Nice sofa, chairs, coffee table, dining table, wardrobe. All good. The only problem I had was with the check in. The older man that was checking us in hardly spoke any english (which is kinda essential in any european hotel). It was quite stressful but I have to admit all the staff were polite. Generally we enjoyed staying with Ramenas. It would be a good idea to freshen up the rooms with a lick of paint and maybe new carpet. Next time we're in Amsterdam WE WILL DEFINITELY STAY THERE AGAIN!Sincerely B.M.

not nice smell in a cuisine, carpet in the corridor looked not clean. not expensive, good situated place.

stayed in one of the studio apartments for the hotel. Located 5mins away from hotel. Guided to apartment by staff. Standard studio found in many locations of Amsterdam with basic facilities of fridge, microwave, hotplate, tv, x2 of plates cups forks etc.Only downfall of the apartment was that with 3 windows in place, only 2 had curtains fitted. This caused early rises and had to undress in bathroom due to appatements opposite being able to look across into window. Also we spotted a mouse - no big panic and probably not much can be done due to age of buildings and the numerous modifications which would be perfect for little gaps and runs.Exelent sat morning Market on door step and only 10mins stroll to dam square. The girls at the hotel were very friendly at checkin.Would defo return without hesitation.

didn't sample the breakfast so cant comment on that, but overall very pleased with my stay at hotel Ramenas

we travel to Amsterdam quite a lot so have an expectation of the rooms available, stairs, noise etc. We booked the apartment as we were taking our 2 year old for a mid week holiday and requested a crib (which was advertised as available) and were told via telephone and email this would be available, however when we arrived the staff informed us they did not have one. We would have appreciated knowing about the apartment being on the 4th floor (if you travel to Amsterdam a lot you can appreciate the stairs can be difficult!) about the €20 euro key deposit. We didn't have a lot of interaction with the staff but they seemed friendly enough and allowed us to check in early morning as our flight in was at 6:30am and the room was empty. Upstairs is two further beds. The location is quiet but quite a walk from the red light district. There isn't much of a view (back of buildings) but there was a lovely clock tower (slightly annoying in the middle of the night but never the less pretty) the kitchen area was clean and cooking utensils, plates, glasses etc available. Mobile stove top cooker located by sink (no oven) refrigerator clean. Beds were comfortable and new sheets and towels provided daily. You can hear other people in the building quite clearly in other rooms. Use the balcony with caution but was still nice to have. The smell in the bathroom was unbearable, although it appeared clean. The shower is in with the toilet but the smell was so bad we couldnt bear to use the shower at all. The room is a short walk from the hotel and near a grocery store. It is a direct walk down a canal to the Anne frank house and westerkerk. I would say if you are traveling with a group of friends and want to be outside the red light district, but still within walking distance to it or to be near Anne frank house etc it is a reasonable room with a lot of space and would be ideal (if you don't mind the smell in the bathroom) also saves a bit of money as you can cook your own food rather than eating out every meal. If you had our idea of traveling with children and like us think it is ideal due to the space I wouldnt recommend it due to the stairs, lack of crib, smell in bathroom etc.

Pros: Location, people were nice. swastika tiled into the ground was funny
Cons: Smell of shit from bathroom.

Pros: Easy to check in. basic hotel with no frills.

Cons: Bathroom stinks and bedding felt like it was crawling all over you

Pros: Breakfast was good. morning staff at the restaurant was really helpful and friendly
Cons: Night staff very unpleasant and needs some customer oriented training.

Pros: Very good stay

Pros: + good location, within walking distance from main attractions
+ friendly staff, laid-back atmosphere
+ the room was ok (basic 5 person room)
+ breakfast included was simple but nice
Cons: - some noise from the street
- difficult stairs (which didn't really bother us, though)

Pros: Good location, just about 10 minutes walk from central station, location and breakfast were ok, the staff mostly helpfull

Cons: The room was pretty dirty and dark, you can not open the window properly and the room was so gruesomely smelly, smelly, smelly... dont stay there if you have any other option. and also security is so poor, i came back to my room and the door was actually opened?!and the key-card didnt work... well in general bad place to stay

Pros: The only good thing was the satff, very kind
Cons: Was the worst place i have ever been. this could not be caled a hotel, not even a hostel. in the site the room was with bathroom and we arrived it was outside. the room is not clean, no soaps. the stairs to the 4th floor is almost impossible to put the feet. they say is for three people, but is a very small room. i would never recommend this place not even to a enemy!!!!don't book it!!!

Pros: Good location and represents good value
Cons: No real problem but studio was ready an hour or so late

Pros: Excellent location, better than other cheap amsterdam hotels, perfect for a average stay in amsterdam.
Cons: Rooms needs renovation, damp smell, marks on walls etc. also found a can of drink under bed which was not ours.

Pros: Description said air conditioning - there was none. there were additional city taxes apart from the mentioned rates but were not very significant.
Cons: The hotel only had twin rooms. there was a waste water pipe going right next to the bed ( just next to the pillow) in the room i slept in. the location is great though and the staff is very helpful, its just the lack of space that kills the good vibe.

Pros: Beds are comfy. 2 mins from bus stop. lots of coffee shops near by and shops for food and munchies.
Cons: Breakfast was minimalist and son showed up 10 mins late and the staff wouldn't give him anything to eat. stairs are a killer. if you don't like noise on a night then this is not for you however we didn't mind it was kinda nice hearing the hustle and bustle of amsterdam. would stay again

Cons: I found it unbelievable they charged 75euros a night with no en-suit!.
