Clayton Hotel Galway  

Found hotel standard to be very good. Room was very high standard. Staff very helpful. Overall very satisfied.

Pros: Food in bar is ok.
Cons: Wouldn’t recommend for business use or for independent travellers. the hotel is aiming at the function and coach party market. 3 miles away from the town centre, with no other place to eat within walking distance (except kfc). restaurant has very limited choice, again aiming at coach parties. gym is very basic with limited opening times. i had no hot water, but am prepared to accept that this was a one off for the plumbing in my room rather than for the whole hotel.

Pros: Nice to stay,but to find was a little dificould

Pros: The lobby was nice and we loved the live pianist in the first afternoon.
Cons: Our room was very hot and the air condiditoner didnt seem to be working. we told the front desk at about 5pm and they thought we just werent operating it correctly and told us what buttons to press. we told them that there was an exclamation sign flashing and it would not operate. at 10 pm when we got back our room was roasting and then we called the front desk and they finally sent someone to look at it and then they told us we needed to move rooms. so at 10:30pm at night we packed up our bags and dragged them down the hall. when we got to the new room the sink wasnt working! it wasnt draining properly. we told them in the morning at the front desk and they said theyd look at it. when we got back in the evening of the second day, it was the same. if the water was on for more than 10 seconds it would take 20 mintues to drain out (which is quite disgusting when you are brushing your teeth). we called down and someone came to look at it and said "it's fine" and turned the water off and on. i explained that it is when it is on and being used for 10 seconds or more then it will not drain. my husband, tired of the whole stay with your hotel, just nodded and said "ok" to the man. then we proceeded to brish our teeth in the bathtub! so yucky.
the hotel was nice but there was no apology or amendments for the troubles we had. we had gotten a good deal on our stay but we should still be treated like any other guest. i have worked in hospitality for many years - including the ritz carlton hotel company and i was quite disappointed with the response to our problems that we had.

Pros: It was a lovly modern hotel. bar staff were very nice to us and the receptionist we dealt with going home the next day. beds were lovely and comfy.
Cons: The breakfast wasnt great for what i paid for it.
