Hotel San Francesco Rome  

Very nice small hotel in a quiet area but within walking distance of major sites, and good choice of places to eat. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful, very good buffet breakfast, rooms a little small but well appointed.

Myself and partner stayed in Hotel San Francesco for 4 nights for our first trip to Rome. The hotel was opposite a building being refurbished with scaffolding outside so initally we were dissapointment however, there was no noise/issues with this building in the morning with the workmen. It did spoil the view somewhat but having seen Rome now we are aware a view is not something your going to get centrally. The staff were very helfpul and efficent speaking good english in comparison to our Italian. We were given a map and were advised on locations to the tram and bus services and restaurants along the main streets nearby. On the first night the fridge in our room and the airconditioning unit broke, leaking in the room. The staff looked into this whilst we were out on our first day and could not fix either problem. We were given cold drinks/ice and free drinks from the beautiful roof top bar...now that had some views!! :-) As they could not fix these and were fully booked the same night we were advised we could move rooms the next day. This was the best they could do, and despite the upset of having to listen to the air con dripping ALL Night we were satisfied the staff had done the best they could! The breakfast had a good selction of drinks and foods, no hot food, but all the same very nice to set you up for a full day in Rome! Staff were excellent and accomodating and even gave us coffee and croissants at 6.30am one morning when we had to leave for a day trip to vesuvuis and pompeii. Overall, a great hotel with great staff who could do only the best for their customers!

Pros: Travestere area is better at night than during the day. hotel staff was friendlier than most other people we met.
Cons: Room was dirty (the bathroom had lots of mold). there are hundreds of better options to pick from in rome.

Pros: This hotel was in a brilliant location, popular with the locals. there were loads of great restaurants close by and not charging "tourist" prices.
Cons: When arriving by plane, get a taxi at the airport. we booked ours through the hotel, with a meet and greet service. that cost us an extra 20 euros when compared to our return journey to the airport.

Pros: This was my second stay in 5 years - my recollection of the cleanliness of rooms and linen is the same -excellent- and the breakfasts are still delightful.
Cons: The hotel is looking a bit tired- and some of the waiting staff could try and smile back.

Pros: Enjoyed our stay at san francesco. staff made us feel very welcome, reception staff spoke good english, and very helpful. good choice of breakfast food. bed linnen and towels changed daily, good sized bathroom. overall good cleanlieness.
Cons: Bedroom slightly on the small side.

Pros: Excellent service by desk staff, free internet, excellent location. the hotel, the roof bar and the rooms are stylish and comfortable. the breakfast gave us a good start to the day.
Cons: As the weather was quite hot, l would have liked a cooler room.

Pros: Great location for restaurants, bars, watching locals but could easily walk to all attractions. nothing to complain about room-wise which, as rome hotels go, is a huge bonus!

Pros: Small and friendly. we found the staff courteous and helpful.
Cons: Breakfast was excellent but no evening meal. not really a problem as plenty of places to eat. directions to hotel by bus could perhaps be a little clearer. 18 stops on bus 75 is rather difficult to count, easy to lose concentration. ok if the bus stops at every stop.

Pros: The breakfast and staff was really good. thelocation was perfect for finding restaurents in the evening.

Pros: Excellent breakfast. easy to get to main area. use number 8 tram. very clean.
Cons: No tea or coffee facilities in the room.

Pros: The stuff was very kind with us and the location of the hotel was fantastic, close to colosseo, trastevere, near river tibery and 10 min walking away from clubs!!!!
