I spent three days here and liked it. No fuzz, friendly atmosphere and ok location close to central Amsterdam. The room was clean and the breakfast ok. The bed was a little bit soft for my taste but otherwise all good

Friendly staff and comfy beds. Also, it was quiet during night time even though our room was located next to the street. Good breakfast with freshly baked bread and baguettes. Good value for your money, and I would definitely go back if given the opportunity.

We're have been on a family holiday trip to Amsterdam and stayed in the Nicolaas Witsen Hotel for three nights ("we" means two parents an two children). The hotel room was quite small to accommodate 4 beds, even though the beds have been smaller than normal. But that's the only thing we could complain about. The room was very clean and has been made properly every day. The hotel itself and the rooms looked like they would have been refurbished not long time ago, everything was in good shape. Staff was always very friendly and the breakfast buffet was more than ok. All in all good value for money.

Great hotel - very clean, good location, lovely breakfast and good value for money. Also hired bikes direct from the hotel which was a bonus, and the only way to see the city!

I traveled with mi boyfriend to Amsterdam on March 2012 and we stay at the Nicolas Witseen Hotel. We have a pleasant stay. The rooms are very clean and well organized. Continental Breakfast was a good choice (Diferent kinds of breads, cheese, cold meats, cereals, fruits).The staff is excellent friendly and very helpfull. They helped us all the way to find taxis, directions, even a nearby farmacy. We would definitely recomended.

Pros: The hotel was exactly as described. its a 3 star hotel so we did not expect luxury, however, the room was clean and very quiet, the breakfasts were excellent and the staff were really friendly. it was also an excellent location, we could walk to everywhere we wanted in 20 minutes or less. we thoroughly recommend it and would stay there again.

Pros: We arrived early in the morning due to our plane landing early. they were kind enough to find us a room free that morning instead of us storing our bags somewhere else. the service was pretty good, and the rooms were clean and cosy. the receptionists were quite knowledgeable and friendly and ready to help. in the morning, we had breakfast, and once again, we had to leave very early because of our flight, and they were happy to serve us before the breakfast hours. the choices and variety of food was exceptional and the quality just as good. thank you, we will deffineatly be back!

Pros: We thought the hotel suited us perfectly as we needed to be in that part of amsterdam, we were close to all trams that took us to the parts we wanted to see, the hotel was very clean, staff very helpful and we will definitely stay there again when we visit amsterdam

Pros: This is a lovely hotel, i really cannot fault it. the staff were all very helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. they held our bags for us at the hotel for a couple of hours because we came in on an early flight. they also prebooked some of our museum tickets for us which meant we avoided the queues.
the hotel was very clean and comfortable, which considering how cheap it was, i was not expecting. the location is also good. there was a wide enough choice of restaurants to eat in nearby. if you are looking to be close to the night life of central amsterdam then this probably isn't the place to stay because it is about half hour walk form the centre. for myself and my family the location of the hotel was perfect as we had no plans to visit those areas at night. during the day we were able to have a pleasant half hour walk along to amstel into the centre (i think there is probably a quicker route, but we enjoyed walking by the river). on the day which we visited the museum square we had to walk barely 10 minutes to get there which was great.
