 "Avoid"
2 star hotel should really be 1 star. The rooms are 6 buildings down the road. Carpet wearing and coming up. Beds that will cripple you. No lift. No fire escape (that was obvious). It's not cheap either. For the same price you could be in a better hotel, closer to the centre.And... VERY grumpy, unhelpful staff.

 "Amsterdam - queensday"
The hotel room was very basic but clean and all that we needed - the rest of the hotel is very run down and a bit dirty. Good location right next to the Heineken museum and close walk to most other spots. It was expensive for what it was but perhaps because we were there over Queensday celebration.

 "was this ever a bail hostel???"
2 sites, we stayed in the other site 4 doors down which is just a set of rooms with no facilities or staffing, outside area filthy and smelly but actual room clean, you go to main hotel for brekky, 3 euros, good value. Clean good bathroom, terrible bed, tiny room, TV but no hairdryer or kettle, wifi only available in breakfast room in main hotel. May be cheap but has absolutely no comfort, suitable for younger backpacker type maybe?? located near a good little local dutch area, lots pubs and good restaurants though and rijks museum at end of road, about a mile from train station

 "Semi decent hostel for overnight stay"
Hotel Paganini threw me for a loop when I first arrived. There are two separate buildings, one to check-in which is the building you'll want to stay in as a paying customer. The second building smells of a dirty toilet and looks like a locker room. The room was shared for two when I stayed and that's exactlt how many people could fit no more, was quite cramped but didn't bother me because I was only staying one night. The WC was clean and modern which was a relief. I did not bother paying extra for breakfast which would have cost 3 euro and some change. and after reading reviews of what is offered at breakfast I did not bother. the service was a bit dodgy, no personal skills from girl behind check-in counter... the place is only good for one or two nights, not really any more than that and it is NOT a hotel it is a HOSTEL - also, the picture on easybook is NOT a photo of the hotel it is a picture of somewhere much nicer... overall on a scale from 1-10 its about a 4... bearable

 "Week Long Stay At Paganini"
The hotel location is quite good considering the easy access to the tram stop from where you can land to Amsterdam central in 10 mins. By walk it is definitely not as close as easytobook says it is (they said it was less than 2km). The rooms and cleanliness can be improved vastly. The reception was quite friendly and helpful as people all over Amsterdam are. We slept a couple of nights feeling extremely cold thanks to the heater not functioning properly. Oh! and please do think of installing a lift if you have 5 floors and customers have to lug their 20 - 30 kg bags all the way to the top and down.

 "No problem at all."
The reception was cool but friendly, The stairs a bit steep but - hey - this was Holland and that's how they built around the canals due to space shortage.The room was small, but clean - iff a bit 'threadbare'. It was a bed for the night and for the money perfectly ok. The window let some cold air in, but not really noticable and I took my sleeping bag anyway. After the concert and a round of coffee shops plus the red-light area I slept deep and solid. No problem on that front. The hotel was not noisy and I saw no other client so I don't know about the others staying there.Ten minutes from the hotel to Leidesplein, via Rookies. Well ok.I really, honestly do not understand some of the negative reviews on here. Maybe if you plan your two-week holiday staying here then you won't make it through.It's a bed. That's the whole goal of the place. No problem.

Awful experience. i never new hotels of such a dirty do exist in europe. Some Psycho Chinese receptionist grumpy attitude when asked about some directions. Never going to stay in this hotel again.Hope I could get refund for this stay.

 "Avoid if Possible"
First the good points. The hotel is well located for the museums and is in a very pleasant area with nice new cafes and restaurants. And the room was clean.Otherwise the room was dreadful. In the basement with a high level window looking onto piles of old buiding materials and other rubbish. Service was indifferent the public areas unpleasant and what could have been a pleasant garden to relax in was marred by a large pile of full plastic rubbish bags and by being generally unkempt.Very poor value for money

 "Paganini hotel"
Had no safe to store things on wordrobe pretty much a hostel style living very poor performance pay all this money and didn't even get breakfast put me on top floor 5th with 5 flights of stairs no lift very small for two people no wifi that works have to go to other hotel to use not impressed should have a bit of a look into there quality

Was a decent stay. We only cares for the beds really. Small room but we were out and about most of the day and night so didn't matter. Bit grimy in need of some decoration but reasonable value and fresh towels every day. Would recommend for backpackers.

 "Never again"
Don't bother with this one - nice old building in charming setting next to the canal. Housekeeping awful, a prison cell would be better appointed. Shower small and looked ok but smelt of sewerage. Furniture old and tatty and dirty radiator. There were no glasses to have a drink or beverage facilities. Overall, a nightmare.

 "Great Place to base yourself in Amsterdam"
Best choice of location in Amsterdam, helpful staff, clean rooms, museums, canal tours, just what every tourist is looking for, right there, step out and enjoy! (far superior to the busy central station, or Dam square)....excellent bakers shop round the coroner.

 "I would not like to stay there if I knew"
I stayed in that hotel just for 1 night. The reception is not at building 68. I do not know why they give 68 in the hotel address. We had to walk to building 76 to take our keys. In the hotel description the rooms were supposed to be with garden or canal view. But our room was facing the street which is not a real problem. But it was ground floor. So we could not even open the curtains while we were in the room. Besides there were no handles to open the window. In a 10 m2 room where you cannot open the curtains and the windows, you really feel claustrophobic. Above all, the bed was incredibly uncomfortable, we had back problems next day. The only good thing was, the room and bathroom were clean.

 "poor value for money"
we did not have hot water for the first night and they did not solve it until the next day afternoon. It was a tiny room for three people. we paid almost 400 euros for 2 nights and the room was smaller than a single room and the service was terrible. wireless connection was very poor in the room too. Totally unhappy with the room. The only good things about it was the cleanliness of the toilet was good though it was very small.

Our room was very dirty and small! It even wasn't really a room either a storage room! The woman at the reseption was unfriendly! In the corridor it smelt awfull! Never ever again!!!

 "Not quite what we were expecting! 3 STAR?!"
The pictures on the website didn't show a true likeness to the room we stayed in, for example, no outside window in the room, we were on the fourth floor....with no lift, this wasn't mentioned on the website, the room was small and basic, the tv was small, the curtains were not clean at all, no kettle or drinks, the bed & covers weren't the best. The Internet was slow and the reception was very bad, especially on the fourth floor! The website described the hotel as 3 star but the hotel rated itself 2 star! On the plus side.....breakfast was a bargain, only a short walk. The people who worked there were really nice and friendly, helpful with local info and keen to help, this made up for the poor room. Overall a good place to crash in the centre of Amsterdam, but don't expect too much!
