"Do you like your room max 5 degree celcius? then acostar is the place"

We came a cold winter evening - straight from Brazil by the way. Arriving after a long day's travel we were longing for a warm hotel room and a good nights sleep. To our surprise the heat in the room had not been turned on, and it felt like the room hadn't been used for some time. Around 5 degree celcius I imagine. "Ah" the man in the reception said "just turn on the heat". Well, of course genius, what a splendid idea! Dear man in the reception, this is the sort of thing we expect YOU to do for us before arriving. It took around 4 hours for the room just be tolerable. We had to go to a restaurant and stay warm in the meantime. We froze all night, and it felt like surviving a survival trip on the north pole when you expect to be on a warm beach (especially for my Brazilian wife). Never experienced anything like it.

"good basic hotel"

selling point is location within walking distance of dam square plenty of cafes, resturant etc.female receptionist unfriendly not a great first impression, room could of done with a paint... large marks on wall!

Good location it's close to the city center, you can reach easily everything in the city by foot.Comfortable room with bathroom. We advise this hotel for your stay.

"Great Time"

Great location and very clean. stairs are a nightmare if on high floor and rooms are small but i would stay again

"acostar"

Central location but noisy, trams and revelers. Clean, polite and efficient staff. Room on the small side, only just accommodates the bed. Shower could have been hotter.

"We loved this hotel! we were a party of six girls staying for a birthday..."

Pros: We loved this hotel! we were a party of six girls staying for a birthday weekend. this family run hotel is in an ideal spot for restaurants, clubs, canals and the tram to take you to dam square and the red light district. the staff at the hotel are great, very warm and friendly. we have all said we would stay at this hotel again!!!
Cons: No lift, some rooms were on the small side.

Pros: Great location and eas of use. staff were very helpfull and friendly.
Cons: Room was small and very warm. pubic hair was found in the fresh bedding on first night. no iron, tea or coffee making facilities.

"Travelled to amsterdam for new year"

Pros: Travelled to amsterdam for new year. on arrival at the hotel we were double booked. acostar claimed easy to book were at fault for the double booking. the staff were excellent, very helpful. acostar provided us with a room well above what we had booked for, and arranged alternative accomodation for the one night we were double booked. can't fault this hotel, the staff are marvelous

Cons: You, as a company, double booked the room i stayed in. i had to be relocated to a discuisting alternative for new years eve, was constantely messed around by acostar and had the worst hotle experience ive ever had!!
