Pros: The hotel was very centrally located just off the ramblas, which made the location just perfect. it also is a 5 minute walk from where the aerobus drops you in pl. catalunya, from where you can easily walk down the ramblas. the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.
Cons: I thought that the hostel nature of the hotel made for noisy nightimes, and the hotel cost was not low for such a low grade bed for the night. we were also disturbed by a plumber who insisted that he be allowed into the room to fix the radiator, which he simply then hit three times with a hammer.

Pros: All the staff were very friendly and helpful, we had an en-suite bathroom - equipped with towels, and we were able to leave our bags in a secure room free of charge whilst we went to see the city after checking out. the green walls were very cool and funky and the room had a nice clean zesty smell, and there was even a little vase of faux roses by the bed!!

Cons: It was quite hard to find, even though i'd stayed on the next road along to it twice before!! we even walked past it twice, although both of us were looking for it!! look for a sign that says hotel venecia or something, its more obvious than the little one saying downtown paraiso.
walls a little thin, my boyfriend had to listen to an american girls conversation at 2am!

Pros: Great shared kitchen, excellent market very nearby, friendly and helpful staff. room was as advertised: compact, and everything worked. they had our reservation; no glitches there.
Cons: Once we were at the subway stop we had trouble finding it. there was more people noise before midnight than we expected.

Pros: The place was central and clean and the staff were very helpful.
Cons: The doors in the place did not have silent closure so whenever anyone shut a door the noise reverberated throughout the place. very annoying at the best of times but worse late at night. fix the doors!

Pros: Good location with a friendly, young, multi-lingual staff. the rooms are sparsely furnished, but you don't need much. a generally fun and informal atmosphere.
Cons: It's loud. ear plugs are provided at the desk, but if you choose to (or have to) go without, you may not get much sleep.

Pros: The hostel is run by friendly and helpful staff and has a great atmosphere. it is quite quirky, a lot of fun and, importantly, has clean bathrooms! it also has a nice terrace which would be good in the summer.
Cons: Not the easiest hostel to find, although very centrally situated in the soho of barcelona! we found ourselves walking up and down the (fortunately short) road a couple of times before finding the tiny signage stuck above a buzzer on a residential looking building. once in , all good!
