The hotel itself is clean, the rooms are reasonably sized and equipped, hence 4 stars for those categories.The staff, however, we found to be rude and unhelpful. The two reception staff we dealt with we felt were very unapproachable and uninviting, and when asked a simple question (for example, "do you have a map of the local area?") they seemed offended that you wanted them to actually do something about it. The cleaning staff were noisy and on two occasions simply ignored the 'Do not disturb' sign we had placed on the door.The hotel is located 10-15 minutes walk from Gare Du Nord, through what felt like a rough part of Paris. We did not feel safe walking through the streets in this area with our luggage, and in the evening when returning to the hotel there were lots of people simply 'hanging around' the streets not doing anything in particular, urinating against walls or roasting nuts on abandoned trolleys. On one trip to the supermarket next door, an American chap spoke to us (as he heard us speaking in English) and asked "Oh my god, are we in the Paris ghetto or something? This place is the pits.". May I add he was muscular, and 6'4" tall, so you can imagine how a young English couple felt in the area.Finally, the noise from the street meant that we didn't open our windows, in addition to which the air conditioning unit seemed to turn off when put into cooling mode. We decided to just deal with it rather than approach the reception staff as I was too tired to deal with someone who would just either ignore me or roll his eyes like a disgruntled teenager. Needless to say we didn't sleep particularly well.Avoid.

Good service, nice employers, helpfull and polite.Close to Gare du Nord, good public transportation ( metro, RER and some busses)There is much to do in the neighbourhoud (local market) but you can easyly move.Great place to stay

Had to get taxis every evening as there were prostitutes outside and didn't feel very safe outside the doors. The hotel itself was very pleasant bar one concierge who when we asked for a taxi he said 'there was no point getting one that we could walk'. It is worth paying more to bit closer to the center of the city. Breakfasts are quite poor and expensive for what you get give it a miss.

The hotel was very clean and the room was a reasonable size. The hotel wasn't in the nicest area but it was very near to a metro station, and it was only a 10 minute walk to Sacre Coeur. The hotel was very clean and was great value for money.

Hotel was very clean and rooms were small but clean. Just a minute walk from Chateau Rogue metro stop and easy access to Gard du Nord. Really enjoyed my stay here and would come back again :)

The hotel was located close to metro stations. There could be seen a lot of diversity in the street. Hotel room was clean and quiet. Close to Sacre Coeur and a very nice Patisserie where you can take your breakfast.Cons: very small shower and toilet, breakfast not included.

The hotel was perfectly located for Gare du Nord (only 2 stops on Metro Line 4) and all the areas we wanted to get to were easily accessible.Having stayed in Paris many times in a wide variety of hotels, we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of Best Western Montmartre for the price.

Pros: Staff were so helpful nothing was too much trouble.
rooms were a good size.
Cons: Had requested a baby cot but one was not provided. was told on arrival all cots were booked out if id known would brought my own. saying that though the hotel member of staff gave us a cot that someone had said was broken to try and it worked perfectly so ended up with a cot!
initially the location of the hotel was a little daunting as we were bombarded and pushed at the metro exit with people trying to use the metro without paying and there was graphity everywhere but in daylight the area wasn't too bad and we actually ate out in the area the second night of stay. we didn't feel threatened at all.

Pros: Location is excellent, a two minute walk to metro, easy access to cdg airport and all areas of paris.
staff were excellent, room was spotless and very nice.
buffet breakfast was value for money with staff on call to assist with any requirements.
i will use this hotel during my visits to paris as it's location and staff are excellent.

Pros: The staff at the hotel were absolutely fantastic. they made you feel very welcome, and were very helpful in directing us to places we wanted to visit. the hotel had free wifi, and although the rooms were small, were clean and adequate for a short stay.
Cons: Although this hotel is advertised as being in montmarte, it is actually on the border and is in barbes. i was travelling with a friend and did not feel overly safe in the area, often being approached for cigarettes on the street, which we were later advised by the hotel was a common tactic to try and find out more about you and where you are staying. it is not far from the metro and is central to get to the main points of interest, but you woudln't want to be wondering around this part of paris alone, especually if you're a woman.

Pros: The agent upon arrival could not find our reservation, but was extremly helpful (ralph) and handled the problem well.
Cons: The hotel itself is excellent. clean, quite. but the area is not very desirable and a single wonman should not travel here at night!
